FISH PIZZA WITH BELL PEPPER RECIPE

Fish pizza! This was my first time making fish pizza and when I posted about it on Instagram, the recipe was picked up to be featured on a university student-run magazine called The National Student. It was for their Mother’s Day article. You can check the article here – 7 easy and impressive recipes to treat your mum to on Mother’s Day

You can turn this recipe vegan by using crumbled tofu instead of fish.

Course: healthy, Main Course, pizza
Servings: 8
Ingredients
For the no-knead pizza base:
  • 1 cup plus 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup water room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
For the pizza sauce:
  • 1 and half cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • A pinch or two of cinnamon
  • Pepper as per personal preference
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional 1 green chili for extra spiciness– finely chopped
Instructions
Directions for the dough:
  1. In a large bowl mix 1 cup flour with the rest of the ingredients till everything is a sticky mess.
  2. Cover the bowl. Let it rest for 6-12 hours or overnight, which is what I did.
  3. Once the resting period is over, add the remaining 1/3 cup of flour and fold the dough over itself till the dry flour is well incorporated. Cover the bowl and let it rest for 30 minutes while you prepare the pizza sauce.
Directions for the pizza sauce:
  1. Bring everything to a boil, keep cooking and stirring on low-medium heat.
  2. Once most of the water has died down, turn it off and set aside. Make sure it has cooled down before you use it on the dough.
For the topping (Ingredients and method) :
  1. Take 1/2 cup boiled fish

  2. Flake it down with a fork to bite-sized chunks, make sure there are no bones – Add salt and pepper as per your taste. Combine everything in a bowl and set aside till ready for assembling.

  3. ½ cup of red and green bell peppers, diced
  4. Italian or garlic bread seasoning – optional
Assembling:
  1. Grease a baking tray or lay parchment paper over it. Place the dough and flatten it out to your desired shape and make sure it is at least 1/3” inch thick to make a thin crust pizza.
  2. Pour the pizza sauce over the shaped dough and spread it evenly, leaving only ½ inch empty on the edge of the pizza.
  3. Lay the fish chunks and bell peppers over the layer of pizza sauce. Sprinkle any Italian or garlic bread seasoning, if required.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 200C for 12-15 minutes or till the dough has cooked through.
  5. Enjoy!
