Whole Wheat Banana Bread

Banana Bread! Easy and healthy!

Hey! This was the first time I tried my hand at baking banana bread and I wanted it to be a healthy recipe. Despite it being my attempt, it turned out to be perfect! I wanted to bake something for dad – so I thought why not bake banana bread? I used Sugar Free as a sweetener but you can use stevia or just sugar. This is an easy and healthy recipe and I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did!

Note – If you have never baked 100% whole wheat before and are skeptical about the texture – then substitute 1/3 of the flour with all purpose flour.

1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)

1 cup milk, at room temperature

2 large bananas, mashed

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence or extract

1/5 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon white vinegar

3 tablespoons of canola or any cooking oil

For sugar free – 10-12 tablets, added dissolved in the milk

If using sugar – 3-4 tablespoons of sugar, powdered.

A cake tin that is 3″x6″ or 6″ diameter. Or something close to that.

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C / 350°F. Prepare your cake tin by lining it with parchment paper by greasing the tin then sprinkling some flour on it.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate medium sized bowl, mix the milk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Pour the wet mixture to the dry one in portions and fold the ingredients after each addition.
  5. Once you have folded in the last portion, and everything looks well combined – stop mixing. Avoid over mixing the batter.
  6. Lastly, add in the vinegar and fold it into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking tin.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes or till an inserted knife or skewer comes out clean.
  9. Enjoy!
